Increasing Enrollment in Higher Education in Priority Disciplines for Economic Development
This results area aims to increase enrollments in higher education programs of strategic importance for economic development. This promotes the expansion of enrollment in state universities and ATIs, focusing on STEM degree programs through a combination of demand- and supply-side initiatives. The increase in university enrollment is mainly due to the development of new STEM faculties and the growth of existing STEM faculties.
The students who currently enroll in university STEM degree programs have followed science courses at the General Certificate of Education Advanced Level (GCE A/L) in the final years of their secondary education. The program provides support for such degree programs in STEM faculties.
