In the Scimago ranking of Sri Lankan universities in 2023, Rajarata University is placed second in the research percentile and second-best for overall research performance  https://www.scimagoir.com/rankings.php?ranking=Research&country=LKA) . For the institute to be ranked, at least 100 Scopus publications must be published within the given year. According to the research percentile, RUSL researchers published 162 research articles in 2022, helping the institution to be recognized as the second-best university in Sri Lanka. One of the most prestigious methods for research-based ranking, Scimago institution ranking is also utilized in Sri Lanka for screening candidates for presidential awards for scientific research. In the year 2022, RUSL was given first position in the same.

For this accomplishment, diligent researchers that are affiliated with RUSL participated.
