On March 14, 2023, Dr. Selim Buyrukoglu, a lecturer at Ankara Karatekin University with a focus on artificial intelligence (computer science), paid a visit to the faculty of technology at Rajarata University of Sri Lanka. The Rajarata University of Sri Lanka and Cankiri Karatekin University of Turkey collaborated on the Erasmus+ Programme’s Key Action 1: Higher Education Student and Staff Mobility Inter-Institutional Agreement 2022–2028 to make this trip possible.  This is the first international mobility as per the MOU signed after establishing the University International Relations Unit.

During his visit, an interactive workshop on employing hybrid machine-learning methods for numerical data analysis was held with the staff and students. In addition, he discussed the results of his artificial intelligence research and the viability of transferring those results to other areas of study. Throughout this visit, he has taken part in a number of conversations in small groups with the faculty and students. Also, discussions on potential future partnerships with regard to research and teaching at both Universities were also had. With 85 attendees, the workshop was a smashing success.
