IEEE Innovation Nation Sri Lanka (INSL)- North Central provincial Competition -2022

The IEEE Student Branch of Rajarata University of Sri Lanka hosted the North Central Provincial Competition, which was organized by IEEE Innovation Nation Sri Lanka (INSL). The INSL aims to give training, mentorship, and financial assistance to aspiring entrepreneurs to help them take their ideas to the next level. The proceedings of INSL of the program focus on two categories: the idea stage and the business stage. At the idea stage, applicants will get the opportunity to participate in the regional-level program together with a provincial competition. The North Central provincial program was collaborated with the IEEE Student Branch of Rajarata University of Sri Lanka. The North Central Provincial Competition scored the first place in receiving the highest count of proposals that any provincial competition received around the country. A preliminary round was held prior to the provincial competition to shortlist the received proposals. Five best proposals were shortlisted by the judges from the university academia. The competition was completed flawlessly and successfully. The competition was judged by Dr. Hemantha Kulathilake; a senior lecturer of Rajarata University of Sri Lanka, Mrs. Anupama Gunathilake; a senior lecturer of Rajarata University of Sri Lanka, Mr. Kavindu Illangakoon; a Web developer at Camellia Network Pvt. Ltd and a member of Startup Hub North Central Province and Mr. Wiraj Wickramaarachchi; a lecturer and the branch counsellor of the IEEE Student Branch of Rajarata University of Sri Lanka. The event was held on the 9th of November at 9.30 a.m. onwards at the Auditorium of the Faculty Applied Sciences, Rajarata University of Sri Lanka. The Lighting of the traditional oil lamps was marked by Mr. Nishantha Weerakoon, the Head of the Department of Computing, the judging panel members and the representatives of IEEE student branch as the competition’s inauguration. Ms. Mathurantha, Chairperson of the IEEE Student Branch of Rajarata University of Sri Lanka, Mr. Wiraj Wickramaarachchi, the Branch Counsellor of the IEEE Student Branch of Rajarata University of Sri Lanka and Ms. Kavishalinie, the Chair of the INSL Mini organizing committee gave welcome addresses to the event. The shortlisted five groups presented their innovative ideas to the audience. The team “Aura” scored highest out of the five teams and promoted to compete in the national level competition. The first runners-up award was won by the team “Strivers” and the second runners-up award was won by the team “StartDust”. The certificates for the winning teams and participants, and tokens of appreciation to judging panel were distributed at the closing ceremony of the event. |
