On March 8, 2023, the Rajarata University of Sri Lanka’s Main Library hosted a ceremony to officially launch the British Council’s Digital Library Wall. Prof. Sanjeewanie Ginigaddara, Vice Chancellor of the Rajarata University of Sri Lanka, Mr. Orlando Edwards, Country Director, British Council of Sri Lanka, Librarian of the British Council, Librarian of the university as well as all of the faculty deans, academics, administrative, and non-academic staff members, and students attended the event.
A mobile device can access a variety of materials, including e-books, learning apps, podcasts, reports, and IELTS-related material, by scanning the active QR codes on the digital library wall, an illustrated wallpaper. Using apps for iOS or Android that can read QR codes, users can download the encoded content for free. The idea of “Like it, Scan it, Download it” is presented here as a novel method of accessing the library’s collection. The British Council’s huge collection of resources can now be accessed by students, professors, researchers, and the entire university community thanks to the digital wall. The community at Rajarata University will be able to travel the world thanks to the established digital wall facility.
