Rajarata University of Sri Lanka has partnered with the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) and the CSE Academy to launch the first-ever industry-collaborative diploma programs in Sri Lanka: the Diploma in Agripreneurship and the Diploma in Business Economics. The official launch event took place on July 15, 2024, at the University.

The Diploma in Agripreneurship was developed by the Department of Agricultural Systems within the Faculty of Agriculture, while the Diploma in Business Economics was created by the Department of Economics within the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities. These innovative programs are designed for students who are unable to attend traditional state university programs, providing them with a comprehensive blend of academic and practical knowledge to enhance their career prospects.

Both institutions entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on September 1, 2022, to promote capital market education, innovation, and entrepreneurship within the University through the University Business Linkage Cell. Over the past year, they have conducted numerous student-oriented programs, including “Varsity Battles-2023,” a capital market-oriented competition, and “Business Idea-2023,” a business pitching competition.

The launch event was graced by the presence of Professor (Mrs.) G.A.S. Ginigaddara, Vice Chancellor of the University, and Mr. Rajeeva Bandaranaike, Chief Executive Officer of the Colombo Stock Exchange. Additionally, Mr. Niroshan Wijesundara, Senior Vice President – Marketing at CSE, and Mr. Tharaka Amarasena, Manager of the CSE Education Academy, attended the event, representing the Colombo Stock Exchange. The ceremony was further enriched by the participation of Deans from various faculties, University Council members, Directors of centers, Heads of Departments, and other esteemed academic and administrative staff the University.
