The Rajarata University of Sri Lanka Welcomes Its First Female Registrar

The Rajarata University of Sri Lanka is proud to announce the historic appointment of Ms. S.C. Herath, who has assumed the duties as the first female Registrar of the Rajarata University of Sri Lanka, on June 11, 2024. This landmark event marks a significant step forward in the university’s commitment to promoting gender equality and empowering women in leadership roles within the academic and administrative sectors. The esteemed Vice-Chancellor of RUSL, Professor (Mrs) G.A.S. Ginigaddara, warmly welcomed Ms. S.C. Herath and expressed confidence in her ability to lead the administrative team with integrity and vision. The small duty assumption event was attended by prominent university community members, including all the Deans of the Faculties, the Head, the Department of Languages, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, the Librarian, the Bursar, and other University staff members.
Ms. S. C. Herath brings to the role a wealth of experience and a distinguished career in university administration. She has previously held several key positions as Assistant Registrar at Wayamba University of Sri Lanka (2006 – 2012), Assistant Registrar, University of Peradeniya (2012-2013) Senior Assistant Registrar at University of Moratuwa (2013- 2015) and University of Peradeniya (2015 – 2019) and as Deputy Registrar at University of Peradeniya (2019 – 2024), demonstrating exceptional leadership, strategic planning, and organizational skills. She is a graduate of the University of Peradeniya with a Bachelor of Arts Degree. She completed her postgraduate Degrees in Master of Human Resource Management from IHRA –University of Colombo and a Postgraduate Diploma in Management from the University of Peradeniya.
