The opening ceremony of the new building complex of the Faculty of Technology took place on October 1, 2024. The event was graced by Senior Professor Sampath Amarathunga, Chairman of the University Grants Commission; Professor G.A.S. Ginigaddara, Vice Chancellor of the University; Professor B.A. Karunarathne, former Vice Chancellor; Professor C. Bamunuarachchi, Dean of the Faculty of Technology; and Mr. Takafumi Kadono, Country Director of the Asian Development Bank. The dignitaries participated in the symbolic ribbon-cutting ceremony, officially inaugurating the new faculty building.

This state-of-the-art building complex is the result of a competitive project grant worth USD 20 million. It features advanced laboratory systems, collaborative spaces, modern classrooms, and cutting-edge facilities, positioning it as a hub for research, innovation, and the development of present and future technologies.
