Rajarata University of Sri Lanka Launches Official Sustainability Website and Pledge

On January 1, 2024, Rajarata University of Sri Lanka unveiled its new sustainability website and pledge, demonstrating the university’s dedication to reaching the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The website as well as commitment seeks to inspire people to take actions for a greener future by educating and involving the University community in the value of sustainability. The Sustainability website functions as an all-inclusive information center for the community at large, as well as for educators, staff, and students. The website also lists Rajarata University of Sri Lanka’s 17 sustainable development objectives. Additionally, Rajarata University of Sri Lanka actively participates in numerous programs that work toward sustainable development goals in partnership with sixteen government and non-government organizations.
The Rajarata University of Sri Lanka carried out several sustainability projects between 2019 and 2023. In an effort to encourage others to follow suit, the website will also include success stories and accomplishments of the university’s sustainability initiatives. The current Vice-Chancellor, Professor (Mrs) G.A.S. Ginigaddara, and the steering group on sustainability came up with the idea to collaborate with the University community on its sustainability. Everyone who works in administration, including deans, attended the function. The Vice Chancellor pledged to promote sustainability, and she expected everyone else to follow similar.
