The Rajarata University of Sri Lanka is ranked the best university in Sri Lanka by considering the research percentile and the second-best university for overall research performance in the Scimago ranking of Sri Lankan universities. This Scimago ranking is one of the world’s prestigious systems for research-based ranking, and this database has been used for the presidential and NRC merit awards in Sri Lanka. The institution needs at least 100 articles in the Scopus journals eligible for the scimago institutional ranking. RUSL was included for the first time this year for the scimago institutional ranking and RUSL researchers have published more than 100 Scopus research papers in 61 Scopus index journals in 2021. The RUSL ranked 44th in the World and 30th place in the Asiatic Region based on the Research percentile in all sectors. In addition, RUSL ranked as 33rd place in the world, 23rd in the Asiatic Region in the university sector.
As a very young university, this is a tremendous news for all RUSL members, including Academic, non-academic, and students to celebrate. This is a global achievement and needs to continue this trend for the remaining years. As a Vice-Chancellor, I am happy to thank all contributors for helping RUSL become the best university in Sri Lanka. Thank you very much to all the co-authors and funding institutes for enhancing the research achievements in the RUSL.
