The Research Excellence Awards Ceremony – 2022, Rajarata University of Sri Lanka
“Appraising the outstanding performance of RUSL Researchers.”
On January 20, 2023, Rajarata University of Sri Lanka hosted the Research Excellence Awards Ceremony for 2022. The Rajarata University of Sri Lanka’s academic staff members who are outstanding in research, creativity, and scholarly works are the focus of the awards ceremony, which aims to acknowledge, respect, encourage, and reward them. The university hopes that these awards will encourage staff members to actively participate in teaching and research activities. Additionally, these accolades will inspire and motivate junior staff members to participate in research projects that will raise the university’s standing on a national and international scale. Additionally, these accolades will boost and support team-based research initiatives both inside and outside the institute.
For the second time, a ceremony honoring research excellence was held in 2022 with the goal of recognizing researchers and igniting enthusiasm for new academic endeavors. Senior Prof. Sampath Amaratunge, Chairman and Senior Prof. Chandana P. Udawatte, Vice Chairman of the University Grants Commission, and Prof. G.A.S. Ginigaddara, Vice-Chancellor of Rajarata University, who attended as the guest of honor, were all present.
Prof. Manjula Ranagalage of the Faculty of Social Sciences & Humanities received the renowned golden award once in a lifetime. The Most Outstanding Senior Researcher and Young Researcher awards went to Dr. DMSLB Dissanayake (Faculty of Social Sciences & Humanities) and Dr. Devarajan Rathish (Faculty of Medicine & Allied Sciences), respectively.
The Most Outstanding Senior Researcher and Young Researcher awards went to Dr. DMSLB Dissanayake (Faculty of Social Sciences & Humanities) and Dr. Devarajan Rathish (Faculty of Medicine & Allied Sciences), respectively. Professors Nimal Shantha Abeysingha and Anjana Silva received awards for being the faculty of agriculture’s and faculty of medicine & allied sciences’ most outstanding senior researchers, respectively. The Most Outstanding Young researcher of each faculty award went to Dr. Prasad Jayasooriya (Faculty of Technology), Dr. Janith Warnasekara (Faculty of Medicine & Allied Sciences), Dr. Jayaruwani Fernando (Faculty of Agriculture), Dr. P.R. Weerathunga (Faculty of Management Studies), and Dr. Janith Warnasekara. Among the qualified candidates from the university and faculty level, 104 awards in total were given out.
